This is another project I worked on with Californians for Electric Rail. As the name provides, we are genuinely interested in furthering the advancement of electric rail projects and passenger rail expansions throughout the state, and California High-Speed Rail is one of the most high impact projects we can advocate for. While it's sometimes a pretty contentious issue here, we believe that California High-Speed Rail represents the path that most large-scale construction projects take in the United States and even North America more generally.
The video's whole purpose was to debunk common myths about California High-Speed Rail along with providing context to many of the issues that they faced early on in their project history. There's often a lot of misinformation online and in the news about it, and we saw it as our responsibility to anchor this discussion in reality and dismiss and dispel some of that false information.
The video was produced, edited, and written over many months. Most of it—minus the heavy research—was done by me. I drafted the script, refined it, and planned out the trip to go through California and shoot at different locations along the route. I got together with my friends to shoot it, then edited it myself and published it to YouTube and promoted it as well.
This whole process took a really long time and a lot of effort, but overall I think the end product speaks for itself as a high-quality piece of work and something that I believe helps push the narrative in the right direction. Here is the YouTube link if you're interested in checking it out.
